Mayan Ruins, Arrival of Spaniards, Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel Mexico is the third stop of the cruise. The docks were packed with tourist as five or more other large cruise ship’s passengers debarked at the port. With some cruise ships caring more than 4,000 passengers you can imagine the commotion and confusion. At this port of call we chose to do a on shore excursion provided by Norwegian Cruise Lines. We chose to go to the Mayan Ruins in Tulum, on the mainland. Norwegian outsourced the excursion to Sun and Fun Tours. It took a half hour or so to cross from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen on a ferry. It was then a 45 minute bus ride south to Tulum, Mexico. Our tour guide David was incredibly knowledgeable of Mayan people. David said he is Mayan and the Mayans have never left the area. In this video on the grounds of the Mayan Ruins David explains the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors.
